All Ohio Nordic Ski Club members are invited to join the Nasa Lewis Ski Club for a daytrip to Wilderness Lodge on Saturday, January 31st.  A bus will depart from NASA at 7:00AM on Saturday with a second pick-up on Wilson Mills Rd. 1/2 miles west of I-271.  Breakfast and snacks will be provided on the bus.  The bus will depart Wilderness Lodge for the return trip at 4:30PM.  To register or more infor contact Jim Wright at jim@ohionordic.org

All Ohio Nordic ski club members, Hilltoppers XC coaches and the staff and volunteers of Lake Metroparks are invited to attend a Coaching Clinic and Group Leader Training on Saturday, December 13th at Chapin Forest Pine Lodge Ski Center from 9AM-12PM.  This introductory course will cover the basics of coaching and leading novice skiers, with a focus on youth skiers ages 5 through 9 using classical technique.  Participants will practice developing a coaching plan, communication and leadership skills and designing activities which are skill-level and developmentally appropriate.   The course will be followed by an on snow technique session, tentatively scheduled to be held on Sunday, December 14th from 9AM-12PM or the first Sunday that there is skiable snow at Chapin Forest.  To participate, you must RSVP to Hilltoppers XC Program Coordinator/Club Coach Tom Cook at hilltoppers@ohionordic.org no later than Thursday, December 11th.  The course is free and all materials and will be provided.  No previous coaching experience is required. 

 

Many Ohio Nordic skiers and Hilltoppers can be found taking advantage of the abundant snow at Wilderness Lodge east of Erie, PA this weekend.  With a base near two feet, skiing at the Lodge should be good for some time to come - with great skiing Sunday if you hoped to ski this holiday weekend.  Please note that Wilderness Lodge will be closed for a few weeks during hunting season but will remain open for skiing on Sundays Only for the next few weeks.  With trackset trails and skating lanes, it's well worth the trip.

Please remember to renew your membership in the Ohio Nordic Ski Club and support the programs, races and events of the Ohio Nordic Ski Club and Hilltoppers XC.  Your membership in Ohio Nordic Ski Club not only provides you with a link to other members of the Nordic skiing community, it provides an important source of support for the growth of the sport in our region.  The best way to get involved is to participate in club-events and volunteer for our club's programs and races.  Membership categories have been expanded to include a "Supporter" level which will further help us reach our goals of establishing XC as a viable youth sport in Northeast Ohio.   Please send an e-mail to membership@ohionordic.org to get registered in the club today.  The earlier you register the better able we are to keep you informed of programs and events.
