Coaching and Volunteering - We need you!

Community Coaches
Coaches trained and certified at this level will be assistant coaches in our program who can lead Bunnyrabbit and Level 1 and Level 2 Jackrabbit skill sessions. This year all coaches will receive training through Cross Country Ontario in November or early December. The Introduction to Community Coaching course is designed to teach beginning coaches (often parents with limited coaching and ski experience) how to run an effective series of skill development sessions with the supervision of more experienced coaches. In the future community coach and group leader training will be conducted by our coaching staff and club volunteers.

Advanced Community Coaches
After successful completion of the introductory course as described above our coaches will have the option of completing a second on-snow training course. This weekend-long Advanced Community coaching course will cover a wide range of youth skier coaching topics including technique (classic/skate), developing seasonal plans, ski selection and preparation, competition, ethics and skier evaluation. After this level only the club head coach will receive instruction through CCO.

Group Leaders
Group leaders will mostly consist of parents and volunteers who assist with games and other group on-snow skiing activities. These leaders will participate in a group leader training session run by our coaches in late December or early January.

Session & Hop In Coordinators
These volunteers will introduce our great sport and the Hilltopper XC program to children and parents who "hop in" for the day to join our Bunnyrabbits and Jackrabbits on special scheduled days. They will also oversee weekend snack/social activities and help get the kids ready for each session.

All coaches, group leaders and session coordinators must commit to at least 4 sessions and will receive the following benefits for volunteering:
-
Free coaches training and group leader courses in first year
- Free on-going coaches training and certification for returning community coaches
- Family season trail pass to YMCA OFC
- $20/child discount on enrollment in Hilltoppers

Hill Helpers
The Hill Helpers are our parent and club volunteers. We can always find ways for you to help but these are some key roles. Parents must help for at least one session or event:
